Apollo Joins the Race for a €10 Billion Energy Business

Apollo submitted a non-binding bid for Uniper in a sale process that could value the energy company at €10 billion. Competition, pricing and financing will shape the investment opportunity.

Apollo Global Management has entered the bidding for Uniper, adding a major US investment firm to the contest for one of Germany’s largest energy businesses.
The company submitted a non-binding offer, according to Reuters sources. Germany is seeking to sell up to 74.12% of Uniper, with the process potentially valuing the business at around €10 billion.
For Apollo investors, the bid signals interest in a substantial energy investment. Its value would depend on the purchase price, financing structure and returns the business could generate.
Competition matters. Other bidders are involved, and a crowded auction could raise the price or reduce the attractiveness of the investment.
Apollo and Uniper declined to comment. No acquisition has been agreed, making progression to the next bidding round the immediate development to watch.
