Google Nears Reported $1 Billion Nuclear Power Deal

Google is reportedly nearing a nuclear power agreement worth at least $1 billion with Constellation. Contract terms and spending requirements will determine the potential earnings benefit.

Alphabet is nearing a multiyear agreement worth $1 billion or more to buy nuclear electricity from Constellation Energy, Bloomberg reported, according to Reuters.
The agreement could be announced this week. Constellation declined to comment, and Google did not immediately respond to Reuters. The deal remains unconfirmed.
Power contracts take centre stage
For Constellation investors, the proposed agreement would offer another potential route to long-term revenue from technology customers. For Alphabet, securing dependable electricity could help support its expanding computing operations.
The value of any agreement will depend on its terms. Pricing, supply commitments and spending requirements will determine how much benefit reaches Constellation’s earnings.
Investors should also distinguish an existing plant supplying electricity from a project requiring substantial upgrades. Both can offer opportunities, but their costs and delivery timelines differ.
An announcement would provide the details needed to assess the financial opportunity.
